Significant Sig Alex d'Arbeloff '49

Alex d'Arbeloff '49 was awarded the prestigious Significant Sig status by the Sigma Chi International Fraternity in 2004 for his numerous life achievements. The Significant Sig award recognizes "those alumni members whose achievements in their fields of endeavor have brought honor and prestige to the name of Sigma Chi."

Brother d'Arbeloff's numerous notable achievements include founding and leading Teradyne as CEO for over 30 years, establishing the automated test equipment industry and growing the company to a billion-dollar world leader. In addition, Brother d'Arbeloff held the position of Chairman of the MIT Corporation from 1997 to 2003.

Brother d'Arbeloff was also a professor of practice at MIT's Sloan School of Management, teaching courses on management and entrepreneurship.

Alex was a chairman of the Massachusetts High Technology Council, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and a board member for several private and non-profit institutions.

Alex and his wife Brit (MIT PhD '61) are active supporters of music and the arts in the Boston area.
