About This Site

The original version of this website was created by Raudel Rodriguez, Tony Kim and Mike Kahan with all graphics created by Kevin Wang for the Alpha Theta Chapter of Sigma Chi at MIT Chapter. The purpose of this site is to give incoming freshman an opportunity to get a chance to see what our house is like before they arrive here as well as giving parents and alumni a place to see what's going on in the chapter.

Over the Spring of 2004, Mike Kahan worked vigorously to make this website a hub for all Alpha Theta Alumni Correspondence. He added sections for Alumni Updates, painstakingly entered information into the database for all Alpha Theta Alumni dating back to our founding in 1882, and researched the big brother lines back to their inception at Alpha Theta in the late 1960s.

In the Spring of 2005, webmaster Brian Wilt undertook a complete revitalization of the look and feel of the website and updated many outdated sections and pictures. In early 2007, in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of Alpha Theta, Brian again redid the site, this time using open source technologies.

This site is coded primarily in PHP, which interfaces with a MySQL Database. This particular server is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and is maintained by our current webmasters. In the background, it uses ImageMagick for thumbnailing and MediaWiki for a brothers-only area of the site. It was created and tested using Firefox from the Mozilla Foundation, and it was also tested in Internet Explorer.

We are always interested in what you think about this site. If you have any questions or comments please feedback and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
