125th Anniversary Reunion

Alpha Theta Sigma Chi, the oldest continuously operating fraternity at MIT, marked its 125th Anniversary with a huge weekend-long celebration and reunion the weekend of April 13-15, 2007. These pages document this truly historic event, which also received front page coverage on the MIT Alumni Association web site.

A New Record

An incredible 160 alumni attended, and a total of 358 people (including guests and undergraduates) participated, making this by far our largest Reunion ever. Despite rain on Sunday, the weekend proved to be a tremendous success.

Friday evening started with class "era" dinners, followed by a large gathering back at the chapter house. Saturday saw a full schedule of events, including "Alpha Theta Academy" in the afternoon, where four brothers shared some of the exciting things they have been doing with their lives.

The afternoon concluded with a presentation on plans to renovate 532 Beacon Street.

Celebrating 125 Years

On Saturday evening a huge reception, banquet and ball was held at the Cambridge Marriott. MIT President Susan Hockfield joined us and gave some very warm welcoming remarks, clearly stating MIT's strong support for the fraternity system, as she helped us celebrate not only 125 years of Alpha Theta Sigma Chi, but - as MIT's oldest continuously operating fraternity - 125 continuous years of fraternities at MIT.
Saturday evening also included the presentation of the Robert A. Swanson Scholarship and the Professor S. Curtis Powell Scholarship to undergraduate brothers. In addition, the evening included a very special presentation of the Significant Sig award to Brother Richard S. Leghorn '39, for his amazing life accomplishments.

A great time was had by alumni and their families at 532 Beacon Street on Sunday. View the full Reunion weekend schedule here.
