Bob Swanson '69 Scholarship

We were honored to be joined by Judy Swanson, wife of Bob Swanson '69, who assisted Rolf Brauchler '69 in presenting the Robert A. Swanson Memorial Scholarship at the Reunion Ball on Saturday night. Judy's remarks were truly moving, with hardly a dry eye in the room.

Edgar Torres '07 and Josh Campoverde '08 were this year's recipients of the Robert A. Swanson 1969 Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded each year.

Bob "Chip" Swanson '69 remembered....

Bob Swanson '69 co-founded and was CEO of Genentech, and is generally credited with starting the biotech industry. Bob died of brain cancer at the age of 52 in 1999. Bob is remembered by his brothers as a funny, kind, warm and very caring man.
